Education: 4 years of high school and attended University of Michigan, Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. His father was Lilburn D. William and in 1930 census was a laborer in a meat packing plant. His mother was Sophia Williams. His spouse was Ella M. Williams.
SSgt Williams was with the medical detachment assigned to the segregated 97th Engineers. They arrived at Valdez, Alaska on 29 April 1942. The 97th Engineers built the northern section of the Alaska Highway. They returned to Camp Sutton, NC in September 1943 and their next assignment was Milne Bay, New Guinea, Philippines.
