Born: 13 February 1918, Holiday Shel, IL. Died: 2 June 1991, Cowden, IL. Buried in Cowden, Shelby County, IL. Enlisted: 2 March 1942 and discharged 25 January 1946.
Lt. Tucker with Company B of the segregated 97th Engineers arrived in Valdez, Alaska on 29 April 1942. Two feet of snow covered the ground. He remained with Company B as a 2nd Lt. from April 1942 to July 1943. The 97th Regiment built the northern section of the Alaska Highway.
He married Mary Rosanna VanHorn (1924-2013) on 2 January 1943 in Springfield, IL. His father was Arthur Tucker a farmer from Kentucky and his mother was Annie M. Hadley of Kansas.
