Tim married Helen M. Bryan (1920-2009) on 25 February 1943 at Ft. Lawton, WA. He graduated from University of Maryland in June of 1941 with Mechanical Engineering degree. His father, Henry T. Timberlake (1892-1968), nicknamed “Pop” was a machinist at the Edgewood Arsenal. His mother, Hannah “Hattie” E. Grafton (1897-1984)was born in Whiteford, MD and very active in the community of Magnolia and Bel Air Maryland.
He was promoted to 1st Lt. on 12 June1942. He was assigned Assistant Transportation Officer on 20 June 1942 and Regimental Transportation Officer on 11 August 1942. On 16 October 1942, Col. Johnson and Col. Paules recommended him for Legion of Merit award.
On 1 January 1943 DS to Whitehorse as Liaison Officer for shipment of equipment to the Aleutians [Cold Bay and Unimak], their next assignment.
He arrived at Chilkoot Barracks, Haines, AK on 3 January 1943. He was assigned Second battalion Executive Officer from 3 January 1943 to 20 January 1943, H&S Company Platoon Commander from 21 January 1943 to 10 February 1943.
He departed from Chilkoot Barracks to Seattle, WA for SPOE as Liaison Officer for the 93rd Engineers on 11 February 1943. Helen Mae Bryan took a train from Somerset, Maryland to Seattle, WA. They were married on 23 February 1942 at Ft. Lawton, Seattle WA.
He rejoined the 93rd Engineers, 1st Battalion at Ft. Randall, Cold Bay, Aleutians, AK on 28 April 1943. Regimental Special Service Officer with additional duty as Regimental Motor Officer from 29 April 1943 to 12 December 1943.
H&S Company Commander from 13 December 1943 to date of departure of unit from Ft. Randall. Promoted from 1st Lt. to Capt. on 18 September 1943.
