Education: Four years of college, oil/petroleum engineer. In the 1940 census his occupation was an oil scout. His spouse, Lucile Parrish Tate was born in 1910 and died in 2013. Father, Samuel Oscar Tate, born in 1883 and died 1954. In 1930 census his father Sam was a Dairy Farmer. His mother, Eppie Josephine Bray, nickname “Josie” was born in 1885 and died 1972.
He arrived at Chilkoot Barracks, Haines, AK on 3 January 1943. He was assigned to Company B Platoon Commander from 3 January 1943 to 20 August 1943 and departed from Chilkoot Barracks on 18 February 1943 arriving at Ft. Randall, Cold Bay, AK on 27 February 1943.
He had additional duty as building inspector for Resident Engineer at Ft Randall from 1 May 1943 to 20 August 1943. On Special Duty from 21 August 1943 to 29 November 1943 as 209th Port Company (TC) Platoon Commander. He was Company C Commander from 30 November 1943 to date of departure of unit from Ft. Randall. Promoted from 1st Lt to Captain on 3 April 1944.
