Born: 23 November 1911, Braxton, Holly, West VA. Died: 25 April 1964, Faumont, Marion, West VA. Enlistment and discharge dates unknown.
He graduated at University of West Virginia with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was in ROTC and prior to being called to active duty was working as a Power Sales Engineer at West Virginia Light, Heat and Power Company.
Captain Sprigg was in H&S Company with the segregated 97th Engineer Regiment. They landed at Valdez, Alaska on 29 April 1942. Three feet of snow covered the ground. The 97th Engineers built the northern section of the Alaska Highway. Capt. Sprigg remained with the H&S Company from April 1942 to February 1943 and was transferred to Ft. Lewis, WA.
His father was Morgan Lee Sprigg, Sr, employed at a retail merchant general store. His mother was Catherine O. Cummings. His spouse was Elizabeth Beagle from Roane, West VA. They had a son, Morgan Sprigg III, graduate of Fairmont State College. He passed in 2012.
