Alaska Highway, H&S/HQ Company. Born: 13 April 1915, Clearbrook, Virginia. Died: 18 May 2003, Winchester, Frederick County, VA. Enlisted: 29 March 1941 and discharged 24 December 1945.
Education: He attended Handley High School and played the cornet. Graduated Virginia Polytechnical Institute on 8 June 1936 with Industrial Engineer degree. Civilian occupation: In 1940 census he was a load dispatcher for the Potomac Edison Electric Company.
His father was Charles Ellis McVay (1874-1955), an Evangelist singer and his mother was Carrie I. Clevenger (1875-1948). He married Hilda Virginia Morris on 21 October 1939 in Richmond, VA.
After the war he held various positions with the Potomac Edison Electric Company until 1964 he was elected Vice President of a sister Company, Monongahel Power Company. In 1968 he was elected Executive Vice President and in 1969 President of the Monongahel Power Company.
He was a registered professional engineer in Maryland and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
