Alaska Highway. Captain, Company B and H&S.
Born: 5 June 1912, New Mexico. Died: 28 June 1985, Bethel, Fairfield, CT. Enlisted: 1 May 1941, Ft. Belvoir, VA and Discharged 3 April 1946.
Education: He attended Sewanee University, TN, Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Indiana and MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
He was Commander of Company B with the segregated 97th Engineer Regiment. They landed at Valdez, Alaska on 29 April 1942 looking at three feet of snow on the ground and snow covered mountains, glaciers. The 97th built the northern section of the Alaska Highway. In July 1942 he was assigned to the H&S Company. Personnel rosters record Captain Larsh from April 1942 to January 1943.
His father was Paul Armstrong Larsh (1873-1934) and his mother was Katherine Daisy Campbell (1875-1914) He married Mary Irving Arthur on 6 January 1939 in Passquotank, NC and divorced her on 1 March 1954 in Southampton, VA. His second marriage was to Catharine Rena Bianco about 1956.
