Alaska Highway, Company A and F. Corps of Engineers. Born: 1 March 1918, Wisconsin. Died: 4 April 1984, Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Enlisted on 15 April 1942 and was released on 28 Feb 1946. Education: In 1940 census, he had completed his first year of college.
His father, Carl Iverson, was born in 1890 and died in 1962. He earned a BSA degree in 1914 from the University of Wisconsin. He operated a dairy farm. On March 1, 1916 he married Sena Marie Jensen (1889-1973), Carl’s mother. His brother, James J. Iverson, was born in 1921 and died in 1995.
After completion of the Alcan Highway, Carl and the 93rd Engineers arrived at Chilkoot Barracks, AK on 25 December 1942. Carl was a 2nd Lt and in charge of a platoon from Company A. Departed Chilkoot on 18 February 1943 and arrived at Ft. Randall (Cold Bay), AK on 27 February 1943. Additional duty as Regimental Fire Marshall from 1 March 1943 to 14 June 1943. Departed from Ft. Randall on 2 February 1944 to Adak (Aleutian Islands). Departed from Adak with detached unit at this location in June 1944.
