African American, Alaska Highway, H&S Company. Born: 20 March 1919, DeSoto Parish, LA. Died: 17 June 1973, Los Angeles, CA. Enlisted: 12 April 1941, Jacksonville Army Air Field, FL and discharged 22 November 1945.
Education: grammar school. Civil Occupation: general farming. His father was Virgil Hudson, Sr. His mother was Bellzola “Bessie” Hudson.
When he returned from Cold Bay (Ft. Glenn), Alaska in 1944, Maj General Joseph D. Patch, commander of the Ft. Lewis Army Service Forces, congratulated Virgil and the men of the 93rd Engineer Regiment for a job well done. They received a unit citation for their work on the Alaska (Alcan) Highway.
