African American, Company B, Alaska Highway. Born: 17 August 1922, Broussard, Lafayette, LA. Died: 8 September 2015, Opelousas, LA. Enlisted: 16 April 1941, Jacksonville Army Airfield, FL and discharged 22 November 1945. Paul lost three toes from frostbite while serving with his regiment on the Alaska Highway.
Education: grammar school. Civilian Occupation: kitchen worker, hotel or restaurant. His father was Angeles Francis and his mother was Lydia Lewis Francis. His wife was Eula.
Obituary: Daily World, 11 September 2015. “At the age of 5, his family moved to California. Upon his discharge from the Army, he made his home in Stockton, California. He was a Sheriff’s Deputy when his love for the outdoors led him to study horticulture. He became a professional landscaper. He returned to Lafayette, Louisiana in 1983 and enrolled at University pf Louisiana furthering his study in horticulture and in soils of the south.”
