Education: five years of college. Civilian Occupation: Electrical Engineer.
First Lt. Forrestal was with Company B in the segregated 97th Engineer Regiment. They landed at Valdez, Alaska on 29 April 1942. Three feet of snow was on the ground. The 97th Engineers built the northern section of the Alaska Highway. Lt. Forrestal was assigned with Company B from April 1942 to July of 1943.
His father was Richard Joseph Forrestal (1881-1948), a foreman steel (iron) worker. His mother was Amalie Marie Emilie Luetzow (1881-1980). His spouse was Harriet Regina Biermann (1914-2008).
