Jack Doyle was a 1Lt in H&S Company of the 97th Engineer Regiment. He and the 97th arrived at Valdez, Alaska on 29 April 1942. Three feet of snow was on the ground. The 97th built the northern section of the Alaska Highway.
In 1953 he was a Major in the 4005th Army Reserve Service Unit at Camp Bowie, TX. In 1960 he was a Lt. Colonel, commanding officer of the 871st Engineer Construction Battalion, an Austin, Texas reserve unit.
His father was Davis Killcrease Doyle (1875-1965) employed as an editor of a newspaper. His mother was Oda Franklin (1875-1963). His wife was Bettie V. Figuer (1905-1984).
