His DD214 records his departure from the states on 24 May 1942 and he arrived in Canada 27 May 1942. He was a member of the H&S Company of the 95th Engineer (GS) Regiment that built the southern section of the Alaska Highway with the 35th and 341st Engineers, two white regiments.
He left Canada on 24 April 1943 and arrived at an Army camp in the U.S. on 26 April 1943. He embarked on a ship on 15 August 1943 and arrived in Europe on 3 September 1943 with the 3516th Quartermaster Truck Company. He was located at PO Valley, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, and North Appenines in Italy and finally Rhineland, Germany.
He left Europe on a troop ship 4 September 1945 and arrived in the states on 15 September 1945, later discharged on the 21st.
Education: four years at Central High School, Cleveland, OH. Civilian occupation: chauffeur and during his military service on the Alaska Highway Project and in Europe, he was a light truck driver. (MOS 345). His father was Sydney Raymond Allen, a paper hanger and his mother was Martha Redmond Allen.
